Pulmonary fibrosis is a chronic, debilitating and severe respiratory disease characterized by progressive deterioration and “scarring” of lung tissue, which reduce respiratory capacity and gradually make it more difficult to perform daily activities.
Pulmonary fibrosis belongs to a category of lung diseases called “pulmonary interstitiopathies” or “diffuse infiltrative pneumopathies,” comprising more than 200 different disease forms with often similar clinical features, many of which can evolve to pulmonary fibrosis.
